Kat2Z for your V0

after seeing a friends G2Z belted mod from HartK and being thoroughly impressed by it i wanted one for my own V0's

the only thing holding me back was that i need either a taller skirt (id just printed a fresh set of custom skirts) or a modded bottom panel (my bigger printers are broken at the moment.
knowing that it was a squeeze in there i wanted to see how compact i could make it and to see “if” it was possible to get it to fit with nothing extra to change or mod.
so my challenge began.

i decided early on that i would design from scratch the drive / gearbox part and make it as compact as i could while still offering an easy construction with minimal fixings required.
oh and getting it to fit within the OEM bottom panels and frame.

as for the tensioner, HartK has done a wonderful job creating a very strong and easy to use setup.
but after creating the drive end i found that to still use the 440mm closed loop belt the top idler had to be moved up about 7mm.
this meant that i need to make some adjustments to the tensioner in order to make it work.
while i was at it i added some guides to the sides for the carrier to stop any unwanted movement in the forwards / backwards directions so keeping the idler where it should be.

after that was done, i wanted to add some cuteness to it, so some void (kat) was just the thing!

If Katz are not to your liking add Face2Z instead.

Added a Tensioner with thermistor slot

Chamfers amended to both Tensioners

Carrier PIN slot has been centralised

Carrier now has bearing spacers built in to stop idler from rubbing on the sides

Belt housing now has Access hole to 20T Pully grub screws

Added Z cover

Slight changes has been made to the BOM for this

drive end

2 off M3x25 BHCS (motor / gearbox screws)
3 off M3x10 BHCS (fixtures to the frame)
3 off M3 hex nut (fixtures to the frame)

Tensioner end

2 off M3x35 SHCS (main tension screw - 5mm shorter than original)
2 off M3x20 BHCS (front fixing to frame)
2 off M3x8 SHCS (top fixing to frame)
2 off M3 threaded inserts (bottom of carrier)
1 off 20 Tooth idler 5mm ID bearing (15mm flange)

IF you struggle to find an IDLER with the correct flange size (-like i did-) try this out HERE

Kirigami Mount

2 off M3x10 BHCS (belt clamping)
6 off M3 threaded inserts (rear of Mount)
4 off M3x10 BHCS (bed mounting)

 ** if using my Kirigami Brace substitute 2 off M3x10 BHCS for 2 off M3x12 BHCS
