Description:

Extension to commercially available 8pt socket to remove axle nuts on FMTV series of vehicles (LMTV, MTV, M1078, M1078A1, M1083, M1089, etc…).  The front axle shafts are not easily removeable.  If you own a retired FMTV and are performing hub maintenance, you can print this extension to accomplish the TM specified torqueing procedure.

Print Settings:

tl;dr: ABS-GF (Other filaments may work !) | 5/8/8 | 30% gryoid | Auto Brim

Material: ABS-GF but other filaments will likely work.  Let me know !
Layers: Printed like a brick with 5 Walls/8 top layers/8 bottom layers
Infil: 30% gryoid
Supports: No
Brim: Auto

Notes:

Shorter: The socket extension I printed for this service could be further reduced to save filament/time, so I included an untested slightly shorter one.  If you print it and it fits, please let me know or leave a comment for others.

ABS-GF: Probably overkill.  It didn't even blink at the 50ft-lbs of torque.  I'm probably going to CNC a 3 7/8" piece of hex and just crank on this socket until it breaks; I'm guessing it could apply 90-100ft-lb before probable layer delamination.

6pt in photos:  Ignore the 6 point socket in the photos.  Amazon sent me the 6pt instead of the 8pt, I printed this as an extension and adapter while I waited on the 8pt replacement.  8pt can be seen in the photo with the digital torque adapter and was used for 3 of the 4 axle nuts.
