The Moon Lamp remixed for use as a light shade, modified in the following ways:

  • Hole cut in the top, this allows access for fastening the lampshade to the lamp, changing the light bulb, and allows heat to escape.
  • Flat base with 39mm hole for light bulb socket. Base diameter 90mm at the narrowest.
  • Scaled to be printable with the Prusa Mini.

I'm not sure if this style of lamp has a name, checkout the photos to see if your lamp is compatible. From farther away the lamp gets washed out in the photos, but in person it still looks great from any distance.

The lampshade shown in the photos was printed with a 0.4mm nozzle, 0.2mm layer height, 1 perimeter and 100% infill, no supports. Using the ‘quality’ preset in PrusaSlicer.

Slicing with 1 perimeter and 100% infill is probably the most important setting, I first attempted to get this to print solid by slicing with 5 perimeters but doing that results in each layer developing many ‘islands’ which causing the printer to jump around and retract so frequently that it sounded like it was having a seizure. 1 perimeter and 100% infill is also faster by a few hours
