This is a simple phone cradle for the Simagic Alpha Evo line of wheelbases that you can use with the Simhub app to display your vehicle dashboard. It is secured to the base via two embedded magnets that attach to the magnets in the front of the base.

Model Parameters

The default parameters on this model are for my Pixel 7a in a case and 6x2mm disc magnets. I've included the f3d file which has several parameters you can change:

  • Magnet diameter and thickness.
  • Slot thickness.
  • Slot angle (number of degrees you want the phone to lean back. Default is 0).
  • Front and back slot heights.

Print Settings

This model is designed to be printed vertically, the STL is already oriented correctly. No supports required. Any material should work, I used matte black PLA from Polymaker.

Your usual print settings should work, but for completeness here are the basic settings I printed this with:

  • 0.2mm layer height
  • 3 perimeters
  • 15% gyroid infill

Assembly

The magnets are push-fit and should not require glue. Make sure they're the  right way round! Do this by placing them on the front of your Evo and then marking the outward-facing side of the magnets with a permanent marker. The marked sides go down as you place them into the printed part.

Push them in with your thumb to start then flip the part over and press it against the edge of a table to get them flush with the surface of the print.
