Summary:

This model is an addon for a Cartographer installation, e.g. like my model version 2 of the mount and shroud that can be found here.

https://www.printables.com/model/1277242-k2-plus-cartographer-mount-and-shroud-custom-pcb-p

I remixed my remix of a cable chain cover of @Robertoooo_2988774 to hold an 4 wire USB-C connector that other side is then connected to the Cartographer.

The reason why I designed this model is that I had already 3 broken Carto USB cables and I wanted an easier way to change the cables. With this cover and USB-C connector I could use standard angled USB-C cables to connect the carto (0,5m length).
The other end of the cable is then connected to an USB-C connection wired through the back of the K2 besides the bowden tube. So if the wire breakes it could be changed with less effort.

The cover has also a lead-through besides the USB-C connector to secure the plug of the USB-C cable with a zip tie (max. 2,5mm width, better 1,8mm).

Right now this version runs without any problems or connection issues.

!! Disclaimer:
I made these models to improve my printer and use it at my own risk but I wanted to share them because I think others may find them usefull too. For this reason I am not responsible for any damages that my occour if these models are used. If I detect any flaws or issues, I will try to update the models and replace them with improved ones. !!

Print settings and material:

I printed mine in ABS and used 0.2mm layer hight, 3 wall lines and 40% infill.
There are no supports needed.

BOM:

  • 1x USB-C connector cable 4 pin, e.g.:
    https://de.aliexpress.com/item/1005007642773280.html
(I used a pigtail version and crimped the JST PH 2.0 connector by myself. These cables are also available with pre crimped connectors but I think they are a bit to long)
  • JST PH 2.0 connector (for pigtail cables)
  • Optional: Cable sleeve and shrink tube
  • 0,5m USB-C cable, e.g.:
    https://de.aliexpress.com/item/1005007872765495.html
  • Any USB-C to USB-A extension, long enough to reach the USB connector at the side of the K2
  • Zip ties (1,8mm width)

Assembly:

Assemble the USB-C Carto connection cable (crimp and put on the sleeve etc.). Please consider the correct pinout of the JST connector.

Wire the connector cable though the mounting hole in the cable chain cover and press in the USB-C connector. The USB connector is a bit loose in the cover after pressing it in. This is ok for me. If it bothers you, you could make the mounting hole a bit smaller.

After assembly, disconnect the bowdentube and replace the original cable chain cover with the custom one using the original screws. Then route the bowden tube through the arm of the cover and connect the JST plug to the Carto.

Differences of the remix compared to the original

A remix of my first version used for a Cartographer split installation. This time the cable chain cover is used to hold an USB-C connector.
