This is another iteration of the Meshtastic Harbor Breeze off-grid solar mod. I created this bracket to support an SMA connector. I've also created an N-Type version which can be found here: https://www.printables.com/model/1245724-minimalist-n-type-harbor-breeze-meshtastic-off-gri

Parts list:

Assemble:

  • Remove the Solar panel from the lawn spotlight and open it up. Cut spotlight LED wires and remove.
  • (rak) stick self adhesive ble antenna
  • To be able to use the native (on/off) switch on the panel, solder positive and negative leads to a JST connector shown in picture below:

  • Print the bracket, I printed using petg-hs and no supports
  • Place the lock ring SMA connector and place the connector through the keyed hole of the mount. Tighten the nut to secure.
  • (optional) Apply heat shrink tubing to pigtail wire if worried about damage from the elements.
  • Run the pigtail between the rest and into the solar housing using the existing hole (hole was previously used for LED on spotlight)
  • I used Duct Seal to pack the bottom of the antenna hole but you probably dont need to.

Use existing nut and bolt to secure the solar housing to the mount. The panel can be angled up and tightened if needed, the rest is used in case of fatigue over time. It should be at a pretty optimum angle.

  • Connect both Pigtail and blu ipex connections.
  • (optional) Swap out 1500mah 18650 battery for a higher capacity one.
  • Close the solar housing with original screws
  • Print out Holster.

The holster was designed to be screwed into (or double sided taped onto a surface. It's keyed design allows for the entire panel and antenna to slip into easily and removed just as easily for maintenance.

  • Slip the mount with equipment attached into the holster.
  • Power on by pushing the (on/off) button on the back and you are ready to rock n' roll!
