My LG ‘American side-by-side’ refrigerator has built in water cooler and ice dispenser.

The water filter needed for the water entering the refrigerator is external. The main water valve is not easy accessible so I needed a workaround.

At Amazon I ordered some valves and other couplings for the water tubing.

Next I created 4 different parts to make exchanging the water filter more easy by adding 2 valves and an easy way to put away the water filter.

For instance, the filter can hang on the side of the refrigerator. When filter needs to be changed, just pull of the filter from the refrigerator. Close the 2 valves. Remove the filter (using the helper for easier pushing on the rings). Place new filter, open valves and put back the filter where you want it.

The parts are:

  1. Holder for the water filter itself. On the side are 2 holes to hold a water tube. Printed inside are 10 magnets 10mm diamter, 5mm thick. Printed in TPU
  2. Holder for 2 valves, one valve on the inlet of the filter, one on the outlet. Also 4 magnets are printed inside. Also 10mm x 5mm. Printed in TPU
  3. Holder for 2x 90 degree couplings. Again, 4 magnets 10mm x 5mm. Printed in TPU
  4. Tube release helpers. Print 2x in harder filament like PETG. These slide around the tubes on each side of the water filter. They are meant for more easy pushing on the rings to release the tubes from the filter.

So: extra needed:

  • 2 valves for tubes
  • 2 90 degree couplings for tubes
  • 18 magnets 10mm diameter, 5mm thick
