Super 8 and 8mm film is 50ft long, and it's hard to find a spot to hang it up to dry. You can buy a turning rack that was made in the USSR back in the day, but people are asking hundreds of dollars. Looking at the design I tried to recreate something similar.

Parts:

  • Post: You need to print 2 copies This will hold up the reel
  • Film Clip: 2 copies, it helps to keep the 2 ends of the film attached to the rods so it stays in place
  • Base Wheel: 1 copy, it can go either side
  • Turning Wheel: Same as the base wheel but with a spot that's easy to grip so you can spin the thing and roll up the film onto the rack
  • Rod: You'll need 8 of these. My printer's max dimensions are 22x22cm so it comes in two pieces that attach together. This will be attaching the two wheels
  • Long Rod: You'll need 2 copies, same they come in two pieces and they attach together. It's used in the bottom of the post

You might want to use super glue on all the rod attachments to make the thing a bit sturdier.
