Hardware requirements:

  • 1x pen core. 120mm lenght, 3mm diameter. I tested ZEBRA SH-0.5 and ZEBRA BR-6A,
  • 1x 35mm long, 5mm OD spring (0.4mm wire diameter),
  • 1x 15mm long, 4mm OD spring (0.4mm wire diameter),
  • 2x M3x5mm screw,
  • 1x M3x12mm screw.

To be able to use different sized hardwares I've made the STEP files available.

Printing instructions:

The pen is tested from 0.15mm LH to 0.3mm LH, and they all make excellent pens.

Supports on build plate only, just a tiny bit for the tip.

The ‘piston’ has built-in brim, so its easier to print.

With MK3S+ 0.30mm DRAFT it prints in 45min.

PLA and PETG is fine, but for optimal results use ASA or ABS.

~4m of filament (~10g)

Assembly:

The thread is ‘self-tapped’ into the printed parts with the screws.

Lubricating the moving parts and the locking mechanism is recomended for smoother operation, but not essential.

The pen core is pressed into the piston. If the fit is too lose, try roughing the surface of the pen core with a knife or reprint the piston with adjusted X/Y size compensation.
