To use the (Un)original Prusa Drybox as “dry” box it should be as airtight as possible. In particular, the door should be as airtight as possible.

I designed this model as an addon to the original frame to add additional magnets for pulling the door flush with the frame.

This modification requires for additional holes to be drilled into the door.

I created this model in conjunction with my (Un)original Prusa Drybox sealing Window Frames.

Changelog:

  • 2025-09-26: Added magnet dimension to the list of hardware needed.
  • 2025-04-18: Uploaded first public R3 revision of door retainer.

Additional Hardware you need:

  • Replace the four screws (I think those are M3x8) in the corners with 4x M3x12 screws.
  • 16x M3x6 screws
  • 16x M3 nuts
  • Optional: 16x M3 washers to protect the door from cracking
  • EPDM 10mm x 1mm sealing tape
  • 32x 6x3mm magnets

Printing

  • Material: I used PETG, not sure if PLA would work because that usually creeps over time.
  • Nozzle: 0.4mm
  • Layer Height: 0.2mm
  • Perimeters: 2
  • Infill: 15% Gyroid
  • Orientation:
  • Supports (green): Required for the magnet holes and cutouts for the hinge screw heads.

Installation

  • First install the magnets into the corner pieces and then install those into the drybox frame corners.
  • Install the magnets into the door mount pieces and attach them to the four corner pieces.
  • Close the door and mark the hole centers for each mount.
  • I then used a 3mm wood drill (because those have a sharp center point) to drill the holes by slightly opening the door and carefully drilling while supporting the door.
  • Remove the door mount pieces and install 4x M3 nuts into each of the mounts.
  • Attach the door mounts to the door using the M3x6 screws and washers.
