This toolhead cover design was made to resolve my problems with part fan cooling after I upgraded my K1 Max to a Booty Call Jones linear gantry and upgraded my hotend to Dragon Ace with Melt Zone Extension (MZE) that effectively lowered the nozzle position by ~9mm. I didn't like original Booty Call Jones version of the cover and I found it too high above nozzle which caused reduced cooling effectiveness. This design aims to resolve these issues and in my opinion keep nice original look from Creality toolhead cover.

I created a version with a D3vil logo which looks catchy in my opinion. If you like it as well you can pick that one instead.

This model has been designed from scratch but I used a model by Henlor as a initial guide for modeling and have taken the vent holes as is. For the logo version I used a logo from D3vil burner but fixed the asymetry in it.

Features

  • Drop in replacement for the Creality K1 and Max
  • Lowered and longer cover to match Dragon Ace MZE hotened dimensions
  • Improved fan duct with circular shape
  • Covers top part of BCJ carriage (original creality cover has holes for a top linear rod)
  • Does not require to disconned cable from lidar sensor when removing the cover
  • Interesting design with D3vil logo option

Print settings

  • Material: ABS, ASA, or another heat-resistant material
  • Layer Height: 0.12 (you can print with 0.2 but this lead to more visible layerlines)
  • Line width: 0.4
  • Walls: 3
  • Top/Bottom Layers: 3
  • Supports required (use tree support, top z distance that works for me is 0.12mm but you can get away with 0.2 as well)
  • Print orientation: facing up (please note lot's of support will be used)

BOM

  • 3x Standard M3 Heat Insert (M3xD4.6xL5.7)
  • 3x M3x20 BHCS Screw
