UPDATE of my previous design FlexiStruder - just another remix

I wanted to update the extruder on my Ender 3 Pro in order to be able to print flexible filaments. But why spend money on a new extruder or adapt the original one, when there are already great ideas to print something yourself?

I have adapted the original design somewhat for me:

  • added the possibility to adjust the contact pressure (M8 screw)
  • reusing the insert of the original extruder for better movement of the lever
  • mounting the bearing with an screw and an heat threat insert
  • added a BSP 1/8" thread for an PC4-M10 push-fit
  • PTFE tube through the lever and the base!

     update 2022.01

  • the lever was not stiff enough and cracked after some months near the mounting of the bearing.
The lever is now a bit thicker. I also added an (optional) cover above the ball bearing for more stiffness.
  • Some minor changes in geometry were made.
  • the outgoing tube is fastened with an additional clamp. The tube can now no longer move or rotate in any direction. (do not screw too tight, check if the filament passes through smoothly)

printing TPU works perfectly, that is all I wanted (most flexible I printed is Filaflex 70A)

Printing:
0.4 nozzle, 0.2mm layer height
4 walls, 6 bottom and top layers, infill 50% better 100%
support touching buildplate is only necessary for the base
Filament: Green-TEC PRO Carbon PLA

post Printing:
if your printer is well adjusted no post processing should be necessary.
if the spring is not installed, the lever should move easily
if the screw connection for the tube coupling is too tight the part could break, so edit the threads in the step file

included step files to easy modify

have fun!
