This is a double napped cone (reinforced with a 10mm diameter cylinder at the tips) that has magnetic breakaway cross sections to reveal each of the 4 conic sections.
This model was designed for magnets that have a 10mm diameter and a 2.6mm depth (I ordered 10mm x 3mm magnets and their dimensions were actually 10mm x 2.6mm. If you would like me to modify the magnet holes for your type of magnet, just message me).
For each face that has 2 magnets (that means every face except the circle), I installed the magnets with reverse polarity so it is impossible to put the object on backwards. I also made sure each part of the hyperbola had the same polarity so the pieces were interchangeable.
Remember to use superglue on your magnets instead of hot glue since the heat destroys the magnetism.
Files that you need to print:
1 x Parabola
1 x Top Hyperbola (exactly the same as the bottom hyperbola)
1 x Bottom Hyperbola (exactly the same as the top hyperbola)
1 x Top Base
1 x Bottom Base
1 x Middle Connector
The author remixed this model.
The middle connector has a minimum diameter of 10mm instead of 5mm
The size of the base of each cone is 100mm instead of 119mm
Instead a single peg to hold each piece together, each face has 1-2 magnets.
