Expanding clamp to hang cabinet doors for finishing by the 35mm hole used for standard concealed hinges.
Required Hardware:
- 2x ¼-20 nut
- 1x ¼-20 eye bolt (hook may also work)
Optional Hardware:
- 1x 1/4in washer (between hand nut and clamp body
- 1x conical spring (between wedge block and clamp body)
Assembly:
- Sand down the layer lines of the wedge block, these will get stuck if this surface is not smooth. Optionally you can also apply a wax coating or similar lubrication.
- Press the first nut into the handle (superglue optional)
- Press the second nut into the wedge block (superglue highly recommended)
- Thread the hand nut onto the eye bolt, nut facing upward
- Slide clamp body onto eye bolt
- Thread wedge block onto eye bolt
Operation:
- Loosen hand nut
- Fit assembly into 35mm hole on cabinet door
- While holding eye bolt still, tighten hand nut to pull the wedge block into the clamp body (down away from the eye). This will expand the clamp body tight against the inside of the hole. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN.
- Test to make sure clamp is secure
- Apply paint/finish as desired
- To remove, hold eye bolt still and loosen the hand nut (up towards eye). If wedge sticks, press lightly on eye bolt to push free.
- If wedge still sticks, use a small nail or similar in the slot on the clamp body to push wedge downward. Consider further sanding the wedge and/or inside of clamp body
- A small conical spring like those on a 6v lantern battery can be placed in between the wedge and clamp body to assist.
