NOTE : Check for newer and better(?) versions of this clip by searching for “filament clip mini curved” :

NOTE 2 : My earlier versions of this clip worked pretty well, I think, but there is always room for improvement. My methodology is to continue to use the earlier versions as long as they do the job, and print the latest version when I need more of them.

This version of my filament clip has some subtle design differences which I hope will provide a couple of improvements :

  1. Better grip on filament reels over a wider range of rim thicknesses.
  2. Improved grip on the filament end.

As an experiment, I am also providing two variations of this new design, one with three “spring layers” and one with two layers (see photos).

Of course you can try both versions, but I seem to be getting good results with the two-layer version (which also prints faster).

Print Instructions

Print in PLA using the 3mf or gcode files provided. In general :

  • perimeters = 4
  • infill = 0%
  • orient edge down on the build plate

I printed on a smooth plate and did not use a brim. I recommend not using a brim because it is a pain to remove.
