These are Penrose rhomb tiles that fit together with hidden side snaps to enforce matching rules and to hold the tiles together into a liftable layout. When assembled, only the polygons show both top and bottom.

This is similar to https://www.printables.com/model/1238240-small-penrose-kites-and-darts-with-improved-snap-f and you can read more there. Because rhomb tiles have only one side length, the boundaries need to be more complex to enforce adjacency rules.

As with kites and darts, the big challenge was how to make snap fittings that can be printed without impossible overhangs but that also hold well. These adhere strictly to the 45° rule and are printable both right side up and upside down. As a result, they are limited to extending 1.5mm past the boundary of a 3mm thick tile. By combining this with complementary holes on on either side, the middle snap is effectively 3mm deep (a little less due to some final adjustment).

Fat and skinny hombs can be printed in different colors for contrast. Alternatively, tiles themselves can be printed in two colors by switching the filament.

I have provided a sheet of tiles that can be printed together with fat rhombs facing up and skinny rhombs facing down. If you switch filaments during printing, they will have opposite colors both face up and face down. The sheet consists of 8 fat and 5 skinny rhombs (Fibonacci numbers) that approximate the ratio of kites and darts in any extended layout.

The photos shown on this printable were made two sided by switching the filament
