Tool-less and fully reversible mod to mount a Mini-DIN connector in place of the original RF modulator of RF-only Master System 2 consoles without the need to drill, cut or glue the original case.
Can be used to provide a clean output to any kinds of RGB and or S-Video mods, as well as in combination to any RGB bypass mods.
Requires some desoldering.
You HAVE to remove the RF modulator for the mod to to fit. It is designed to clamp firmly but not overly tight to the PCB of the Masters System, where the RF modulator was located. Check for solder remains when there is too much resistance trying to fit it. No glue or screws are needed, as the mod is designed so that it cannot move once the PCB is installed back into the case.
The mod can be fitted with a MINI DIN female connector with various pinouts. No glue is needed here, too, just fold the shielding prongs outwards in the grooves of the mod, preventing rotation of the plug. I used a 8 pin version with a Framemeister-compatible pinout using R+G+B+CSync+L&R Audio+5 Volts+ Ground with grounded shielding.
The mod can be used with signal attenuation in the cable or the console itself (pictured is the version with attenuation needed in the cable).
