Case for my MagTag ISS Tracker project. CircuitPython source can be found at https://github.com/apendley/magtag-iss-tracker.

I printed both pieces face-down with no supports, using 15% infill. I used Polymaker Pro silver filament for a retro space-agey prototype feel.

Fasten the front cover to the MagTag with 4 M3x6mm screws. I used black nylon screws for aesthetic reasons, but any type of screws will do.

For assembling the back cover, there are three options:

  1. Fasten back cover to MagTag with 4 M3x6mm screws for a free-standing build
  2. Fasten back cover to MagTag with magnetic feet to enable mounting on metal surfaces, such as refrigerators, etc.
  3. Fasten back cover to MagTag along with Skadis hooks from https://www.printables.com/model/86615-magtag-support-on-skadis using M3x10mm screws to enable mounting on Ikea Skadis peg boards.

TIP: If using a lighter colored filament, to prevent light bleed from the LEDs through the front cover, put some black masking/gaffers/electrical tape on the inside of the cover right above where the LEDs on the MagTag are positioned when mounted.

Model origin

The author remixed this model.

Differences of the remix compared to the original

Modified the front cover of the case to remove snap-fit geometry, add screw holes for mounting to the MagTag (and to give it a more old-school, prototype-y feel), modified the screen cutout and standoff geometry to better reflect the LED light back onto the screen, and various other small tweaks. Created new back cover to neatly fit inside the front cover.
