Remix Changes:

The original version that I created (https://www.printables.com/model/1238322-prusa-core-one-air-vent-shield) did not fit on the Prusa Core One print bed so I included a split variant. However, I was not happy with the split variant so I have remixed it so it is more secure and less likely to move, as well as covering the air vent more thoroughly, without restricting airflow. There is also no air gaps possible between the parts now.

New Design Description:

The two printed parts are held together by two 5mm x 2mm magnets, with a larger overlapping part to ensure no gaps between the two parts. (This can also just be super glued together instead of using magnets).

Each part has a protruding element with a pin, this is designed to fit into the top cover of the Prusa Core One. The plastic pins which secure the top cover can be easily removed, and moved to the other sides without making the top cover loose. This then allows the printed parts to ensure good alignment and prevent them from moving around.

This design is lower and fully covers the air vent, to reduce any chance of drafts from the front or sides, as this was a problem for me since the printer is in a cold room by a door. Lowering the design also makes reaching over the top of the printer easier and you are less likely to knock or move the air vent shield. When the air vent is open there is still good airflow so the function of the part is not restricted by this shield.

Parts Required:

  • 1x Air Vent Shield - Split Version - LHS
  • 1x Air Vent Shield - Split Version - RHS
  • 2x 5mm x 2mm Magnets

Differences of the remix compared to the original

Completely re-designed so it is more secure on top of the printer, by replacing the 10mm magnets with pins, that fit into the holes for securing the top cover of the printer. It is also now lower and covers the air vent better without hindering airflow.
