This is a filament grommet for 3D printer enclosures, that are built from IKEA
Platsa cabinets.
It is intended for small holes and relatively thick boards. The model is
parametric and can be adjusted to the required hole diameter and board
thickness.
The grommet consists of two parts, that are snapped together.
I use this grommet with an outer diameter of 8 mm and an inner diameter of 5 mm.
It works very well for low prints. However there is a lot of friction when the
print head is high, and when the filament therefore needs to curve strongly. A
bigger diameter would have been better.
I have printed this grommet from PETG with a 0.6 mm nozzle. It does not need any supports. The print is very easy.
The model is written in the geometry language Open SCAD. The file filament-grommet.scad
contains the parts arranged for printing.
The author marked this model as their own original creation.
