My Lapierre Xelius SL7.0 2024 road bike came equipped with a proprietary stem. Other stem length were not available. For bike fitting, I wanted to mount a standard stem with a different length.
Problem: the proprietary stem has the brake lines mounted inside. To get them out of the headset, I designed a cover for the spacer stack with a taper to the standard stem and also some holes for the break lines.
Prototypes were printed in yellow PLA. Final part was printed in PA12 nylon for strength. I used a HP multijet fusion printer at JLC3DP. Part price was US$3.
In the photo section, you can see three variants. Original stem, prototypes and final printed part.
