The Dice Box
A customizable puzzle box inspired by the compliant mechanism designed by 3D Printy (https://www.printables.com/model/137125-snappy-fidget-button).
Can be configured and reconfigured for any ‘correct’ pattern
Assembly Instructions
- Insert the Buttons into the Lid. It should ‘click’ into place.
- Snap on the Button Cap to the lower end of the Button
- A ‘High’ Cap will unlock when it is in the upward position
- A ‘Low’ Cap will unlock when it is in the downward position
- Each of the 9 buttons can use either ‘High’ or ‘Low’ caps and can be reset anytime
- Do not to put too much pressure on the Lid when pressing the buttons and caps into place
- Pull/Push the Buttons into their ‘unlocked’ configuration and slide the lid into the Main Body
- Reset the Buttons to any configuration and the box is locked!
- (Optional) Glue the Dots into open slots on the sides on the Main Body and Lid. These can also be painted or left empty if desired.
Print instructions
- All parts are printed at .2mm layer height at 15% infill.
a. If the Lid is having durability issues during assembly, increase the infill to 40%
b. The printed spring on the buttons may be stiff, try working them a few times to loosen them
Additional Details
Please leave a comment if you are having any issues printing or would like functional adjustments made. If I were to make a V2 of the design I would re-work the buttons to have an easier to print grip.
