This is a mount for mounting LED strip to a IKEA Lindbyn oval (60 x 120 cm) mirror.
The spacers allow for more stability when mounted on the wall. They are pretty much a must have and they also provide some space for the power supply, cables and control unit.
I recommend leaving the mounting screws sticking out of the wall by 20-23mm.
The parts are cut so they can be printed on a Prusa printer.
BOM:
- Oval_short_left - 2 pcs
- Oval_short_right - 2 pcs
- Oval_long_left - 2 pcs
- Oval_long_right - 2 pcs
- Side - 4 pcs
- Spacer - 4 pcs
Print settings:
- 3 perimeters
- I recommend using a brim
- PETG or other temperature and humidity resistant filament
Instructions:
- Print two of each oval part, four spacers and four sides.
- Degrease the mirror frame and printed parts. I recommend isopropyl alcohol.
- Use 10mm wide double sided tape and apply it on the plastic parts.
- Mount the printed parts on the mirror. Start from the sides to get the feel for it and then move to the oval part. Oval Long part can be distinguished by the dimple, which goes by the cross bracket. Leave a small gap on the middle for the cables, if needed.
- Mount the spacers on the bracket.
- Mount the LED strip to the printed parts.
- Install the power supply and a dimmer, if needed. I've used a tiny bit of double sided tape on the power supply so it won't move when installing the mirror.
- Mount the mirror on the wall.
Refer to pictures if you need guidance.
I've used three meters of the LED strip, but there was a ~5cm gap on the bottom side. By using COB tape you won't need to diffuse the light. Looks pretty good as it is.
