These are sleeves that will fit over a Remarkable pen / marker (fit to the Marker Plus), which supports the replaceable stylus tip. The plastic structure on these markers that normally supports the tip is very thin and brittle. Dropping the marker from even a small height can break it, leaving the writing point unsupported such that it bends and makes the marker unusable.
If your marker isn't covered under warranty, you can print out one of these sleeves, which will friction-fit over the marker and make it usable again. It isn't quite as nice as an undamaged marker, but it also doesn't cost $129.
There are two versions here:
- A version that wraps all the way around the pen, and has a tight friction fit. It is very secure and stable, but because it wraps all the way around the pen barrel, it interrupts the flat surface that magnetically mates to the Remarkable tablet. It still sticks to the tablet, just not quite as well.
- A version that only partially wraps around the pen, leaving the magnetic mating surface unchanged. This model uses ‘fuzzy skin’ to grab the pen barrel, but can't do so as tightly as the other model. however, it attaches to the Remarkable pad more securely. The fuzzy skin modifier is present in the .3mf file, so please try to print from that if you can.
To print:
- 0.2mm nozzle recommended. The hole at the tip is adjusted for this nozzle. If you use a 0.4mm nozzle, you may have to find a hole compensation parameter that allows the stylus tip to pass through it. Alternately, if you have the right drill bits, you can bore out this hole to the proper size (1.58mm).
- Print this model at half speed with all fans at 100%. It's fine to change the fan speed half way through printing; only the tip with the stylus hole needs slow speeds and fast cooling.
To install:
- Verify that the stylus tip passes through the hole at the top of the sleeve. It should ideally pass through with minimal, but still tactile, friction.
- Verify that the bottom opening of he sleeve (the wider one) is clean and de-burred.
- Take a sharp knife, like a fresh utility blade or a hobby knife, and shave off the chipped stylus support.
- Insert a new stylus tip.
- Slide the sleeve over the end of the marker. It should friction fit tightly.
