I wanted to be able to have our remote handy and my first attempt (a “basket”, non-magnetized), while usable, was a pain. With a simple magnetic grip, this is turning out to be great!
The holes are made for 10mm x “2mm” neodymium magnets. The ones I got (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07MV6M12H - DIYMAG 100Pcs Refrigerator Magnets, assorted 2mm thick sizes) are not really 2mm thick - more like 1.7mm.
To use this, you'll need to take the model of the base and customize it for your environment. Mine is hanging on the top of the bed frame, so I added the arm (which is what you see in the photos). I suppose an easy option is to use some VHB tape and stick the base somewhere - then you can use it unmodified.
Supports are necessary for the holder, to get the proper lip on the top/front. Everything is designed for 0.2mm layers.
