Instead of using tape to cover my webcam, I made a sliding webcam cover. It fits tightly to the 2021 24" iMacs and does not cover the two microphone holes.
I printed in PETG since those were the colours I wanted and had on-hand. However, I have also printed in PLA. Both work well.
I used a 0.1 mm layer height and a 0.4 mm nozzle.
You have two choices when printing:
- Print with the broad, flat face down (i.e., not the logo side). This will work, but the results are not quite as good as the next option.
- (Recommended) - Print with the narrow side down (see photos), and use supports in PrusaSlicer to ensure the logo is the last part printed and lies flat. Do this by rotating the model 90 degrees (it was the red plane in my PrusaSlicer). This has the additional benefit of being able to do a colour change to highlight the logo. Enable Generate support Material on the Support material section of the Print Settings tab in PrusaSlicer. The support breaks off quite easily.
