Base/Enclosure for the Noctua NH-AAS desk fan by MajorHardware. It features power connector, power switch and weights to make it more stable.

Bill of materials:

Some assembly notes:

  • The Noctua fan controller has weird shape and it's difficult to mount securely. There is a cutout for it in the base top and a "pedestal" underneath it in the base bottom. The fit is tight enough that I just used some double sided sticky tape to fix it to the bottom and it doesn't move.
  • For connecting the power to the Noctua fan controller I used a fan extension cable. The male connector goes to the controller input, the female connector is cut off. The ground wire goes directly to the power socket and the +12V wire goes to the socket via the rocker switch. Polarity at the socket depends on your DC adapter but most often the inner contact is +12V and outer is ground. The PWM and RPM signal wires are not used on the input side of the controller.
  • When mounting the power socket do not use the spring washer that comes with it. It won't fit and it's not needed.
