I really like the low friction spool holder for my A1 Mini and wanted a similar one for my new Elegoo Centauri Carbon. I remixed some great designs into a low friction mount that will do the job. All parts can be printed on the Centauri Carbon and then assembled to replace the stock spool holder.

Features

  • This is a drop in replacement for the stock Centauri Carbobn Spool Holder
  • Assembly is straightforward
  • The bearings are able to be printed in place
  • Supports don't need to be enabled

Instructions:

  1. Print all the parts.
  2. Remove stock spool holder from Centauri Carbon.
  3. Remove two small break-away supports from the portion of the spool holder rod that will be inserted into the side panel of the Centauri Carbon. 
  4. Insert the bearings into the spool holder sleeve.
  5. Slide the bearings and sleeve over the spool holder rod. 
  6. Screw the end cap onto the rod. This is reverse threaded so spin opposite direction of normal threads to tighten. (counter-clockwise, anti-clockwise, “lefty tighty”)
  7. Install assembled spool holder onto Centauri Carbon by turning counter-clockwise, anti-clockwise, “lefty tighty."

-3MF file for Elegoo slicer included. Print by object is enabled and some objects are different than the default settings. 

-Recommended print settings are .16 layer height, 3 walls, 25% infill. I recommend 100% infill on the threaded rod cap.

Differences of the remix compared to the original

-Changed mount to have removable screw cap on end to allow bearings to slip over the rod

-Added stops to sleeve so that bearings don't slide too far inside

-Changed center of bearings from slots to holes to fit over the round rod
