Inspired by various belt tension gauges found on aliexpress, I did build my own version.
The device uses a cheap digital tire profile depth gauge.
Most of the sold belt tensiometers use rubber bands for the pusher.
I used a steel spring for better repeatability and longer shelf life.
I also designed the parts so that overhangs are avoided while having a shield around the spring.
The design is done with cadquery and I have included the python script, so that it is quite easy to adapt parameters for different springs or depth gauges.
The parts are printed with PETG, 25% infill and 5 walls.
If holes are slightly too small they can thus be easily enlarged with a drill without sacrificing stability.
The author marked this model as their own original creation.
