Display Stand for Game Boy Advance SP

Sleek, sturdy and fast printing display stand for Game Boy Advance SP. This is one of a series of stands for different handheld consoles I created for a friend. All other stands can be found in this collection.

Parts

The stand consists of 2 pieces: The stand itself and a label.

The label can be press fit into a grove in the front of the stand. The press fit should hold the label pretty well, but depending on your printer, you may need to either add some CA glue to make it hold permanently or shrink the label by a couple percent in Z dimension if it does not fit.

The label is a separate part for three reasons:

  1. To make printing the text very easy
  2. To make it possible to pause printing for color change to make the text pop without any MMU system.
  3. You may take the advantage of the provided files being STEP files and swap the text for something else.

On a different note. I'm absolutely NOT suggesting that you go to wikipedia and use their SVG logos from articles about consoles on your labels. That would most likely violate some angry company's copyright.

Remixes

If you decide to create your own label then feel free to post it as a remix, but I would be glad if you posted only the label so we both get the credit!

Printing suggestions

I'm printing this model with PETG (cheap, prints REALLY well on P1P) but PLA will work without any issues.

I'm using OrcaSlicer for my models with the following settings:

  • Quality: 0.28mm on 0.4mm nozzle - The model doesn't need a high vertical quality
  • Infill: 5% Cross Hatch. - If your printer is not good at bridging you may need to increase the density for the label.
  • Wall Generator: Arachne - It makes the text print a little better

If you want to print the text in another color, insert a pause on the FIRST LAYER of the text.

Tips

If your console slides on the stand, I'd suggest putting a little piece of a furniture felt pad on the spot the console touches the stand. It should help with the sliding. I didn't want to compromise the esthetic with a larger support, after all we are trying to present your console if it's full glory ;D

Stands for other consoles

Hope those stands enhance your collection ;) Happy printing!
