When calibrating new materials I noticed very bad performance on simple 45° overhangs, whilst fiddling with cooling strength made little to no difference.
So I mashed up better cooling version of Atomic Shroud V2, where the ducting was designed improperly so the airflow was directed behind the nozzle and fighting the rear fan. Therefore everything around the model was cooled but not the part where the cooling is needed.
V1 is similar to the original Atomic fan holder and that one is inspired by Bambu and similar to the original Sovol Shroud which is adequate thanks to 24V fan spitting out a ton of air
For mine I used
ABS/ASA/PolyCarbonate
0.2 layer height
0.5mm bottom shell
4 top layers
2 perimeters
10% gyroid infill
Since I did not find any simple tutorial on how to connect the upper fan and make it spin here is my solution:
In printer.cfg add (scroll down until you see something similar and insert it there - it does not matter - just dont insert it in lines where there is “include xxxx”)
[heater_fan mcu_fan]
pin: extra_mcu:PB0
max_power: 1
fan_speed: 0.5
kick_start_time: 0.5
heater: extruder
heater_temp: 45
This makes the fan spin as soon as the nozzle reaches 45°C, it takes 0.5s to reach set speed and speed is set to 50%. The fan will show up in mainsail as “mcu_fan”.
It being a 24V small fan when set to 100% it produces annoying whining noise and 50% speed is optimal to move air around the mcu and quite quiet.
This is the connector to use:
I used these cables as I lack the equipment to crimp my own:

I used this fan and just soldered the wires together with the above:

If you cant solder or dont have a soldering gun you can use these

(just find the smallest you can, get rid of few mm of isolation on the wires exposing the copper, insert the tube on one of the wires, twist the wires together, put the middle of the tube over the exposed twisted copper and use heat gun or lighter to melt the solder inside the tube and make it shrink at the same time)
The author remixed this model.
