This Old Spice deodorant stand is designed to integrate an Aqara Door Window Contact Sensor to track when a deodorant stick is lifted and replaced. By integrating into your smart home system (I recommend Home Assistant) you can monitoring usage patterns, automate reminders, and trigger refill alerts.

Practical Applications:

đź›’ Consumable Usage Tracking & Reordering

  • Monitor how often deodorant is used and set up reminders to restock.

đź”” Daily Hygiene Routines & Reminders

  • Trigger “Get Ready” routine when deodorant is used.
  • Set up alerts if deodorant hasn’t been used by a certain time.

đź«‚ Caregiving & Assisted Living

  • Helps parents or caregivers to monitor hygiene routines for children, elderly family members, or individuals with disabilities.

🏠 Smart Home Integration & Automation

  • Automate routines, log usage, or trigger any smart home actions you might find useful.

How to Use the Stand:

Secure the Contact Sensor

  • Use the double-stick foam tape that comes with the Aqara sensor to attach it inside the sensor slot at the bottom of the stand.
  • Ensure the reset button is facing the reset hole in the stand for easy access.

Insert the Magnet into the Deodorant Stick

  • Slide the magnet portion of the sensor into the included adapter piece.
  • Press the adapter into the bottom twist mechanism of the deodorant stick—it should fit snugly with a pressure fit.

Ensure Proper Alignment

  • When placing the deodorant in the stand, make sure the magnet aligns with the contact sensor.
  • If the magnet is perpendicular to the sensor, it may not register as "closed" when the stick is in the stand.

Differences of the remix compared to the original

  • Reduced size to hold a single deodorant stick.
  • Integrated a contact sensor mounting slot into the base.
  • Added a hole between the sensor slot and deodorant slot to make it easier to push out the sensor for battery replacement.
  • Included a side hole to access the reset button on the Aqara contact sensor without removing it from the stand.
