I bought an LCD writing/drawing tablet from AliExpress, and while impressive for the price, it seemed a bit flimsy.
This case supports the back of the screen and reduces flex. It also allows for customisation and maintains access to the battery compartment. The letters near the erase switch indicate Lock and Unlock.
I designed this case to be printed in PLA or PETG. It is a tight snap on fit, so don't expect to take it off without potentially breaking it.
I used PLA+, but I think PETG may have been easier to snap on due to its flexibility.
Important Notes
- For 10 inch tablets only.
- Requires a print bed of about 250x180mm.
- There are many variations of these tablets. Please make sure you have exactly the same model shown in my pictures, or it may not fit.
The pictures in AliExpress listings are often inaccurate, so check customer review pictures when purchasing. I bought this one mid-2024, but things may have changed. - The case will add quite a bit of weight to the tablet. Reduce the infill and/or solid layers to save some weight if desired.
- The outer perimeter of the tablet may have some injection mould flashing, which can interfere with the case fit. Remove this carefully prior to case installation with a blade, deburring tool or file.
- Print the test piece first, wait for it to cool and see if it fits. If not, scale the print in XY (Z shouldn't need scaling) or calibrate your filament shrinkage compensation settings so it fits. I used a filament shrinkage value of about 99.7% in OrcaSlicer for my PLA+.
Customisation
There are two methods for text customisation.
- Edit the provided STEP file in 3D modelling software, cutting letters entirely through the back plate and creating custom supports if required for letters. The tablet colour will show through the text cut-out. This is what I did.
- Use the emboss text feature in your slicer or colour painting tools in your slicer in conjunction with an AMS or similar to make text print in a different colour.
I do not have an AMS, but believe it should be possible within a slicer.
