Fancy Espresso Knock Box - Puck Catcher

A fun project I spent a lot of time tuning. I'm a metal worker so this was a challenge for me to design the smooth shapes.

The Design Goals:

1. An offset knock bar
2. Professional look
3. Low overall price
4. Printable

After many revisions this is my favorite. 

The offset knock bar allows the entire puck to fall straight out when you knock the rim of the portafilter against it, instead of breaking the coffee puck on the bar and making a big mess. 

This easily fits on a Prusa Machine print bed. Any well tuned profile will produce beautiful results.

This project can be fully printed. I designed it with metal base weights and a stainless steel spindle which you can source from me if enough people comment to request the parts. I supplied 3D files for fully printed version in the same file.

All solid files are included in the .STEP file for both versions.

Print Details:

Knock box: PETG. 3 Walls minimum. Infill is 5-20% depending on preference and weight.

Center Spindle: PETG. I recommend 5 or 6 walls if printing the spindle. 40% infill minimum. Stainless tubing will be made available if people want it.

End Caps for printed spindle: PETG. Solid Fill. Glue into place

End Caps for Stainless Steel Spindle: PETG. Solid Fill. Snap into place.

TPU Spindle Pad (Knock Bar): 2 or 3 walls. 5-15% fill TPU 95. Gyroid infill. Fuzzy skin is required. Fuzzy Skin on outside surfaces only. 0.2mm depth x 0.2mm pitch.

The TPU Base Pad is 100% fill TPU 95. 

You can print the TPU Base Pad and Knock Box Body with an MMU as 1 print, pausing to add weights into the base if you choose.

You can also print the base as 2 pieces. Insert weights into the base and glue the TPU base pad on.

Bill Of Materials:

All parts are printable in the supplied STEP file. 

If enough people request it: I will list the metal weights I inserted and the stainless steel tubing spindle on EBAY for you.

I cut to length and highly polish the stainless steel tubing in-house. They will arrive ready to assemble.
