I like the idea of using cage nuts, but the non-standard size prevents using some quality of life improvements like rackstuds.!

Slots for cage nuts have a defined standard, and this doesn’t meet them. 3/8” or 9.5mm.

And lack of parameterized models made it time consuming to update. Pull each side in .25mm and top and bottom .1625 to get it to standard.

@jsnyder81_1597254 fair, the holes do come in under 9.5mm, and that was on purpose. The wall between rack units is the thinnest point in the whole design, and it's a tall, pillar standoff that prints standing straight up. Holding it at 1.8mm keeps it strong across a wide range of printers. Opening the holes to spec drops that to 1.64mm, which is probably fine on a well tuned machine and a coin flip on one that isn't. Built this for the masses, not just the dialed-in setups, so strength won. You're also right that off the shelf RackStuds won't reliably seat in these. They want 9.3mm minimum and mine sit just under. The printed studs are known to work well here though, plenty of folks have gone that route. Appreciate your input.

Came out great! Pretty solid printed in PETG

Why are the holes for cage nuts not the standard size? Standard should be 3/8, these are very undersized.

Thank you for the well designed product. The customization on size was super useful.

Note that even though you encourage remixes in your description, the license you have used does not allow derivatives. This is causing problems when I am trying to publish an alternative version of the lid that allows mounting a Unifi U7 Pro access point. Can you edit the license to one that allows remixes without commercial support? (edited)

@Arucious_3283876 +1
@MandicReally I've created a bunch of derivatives as well and was going to publish them to share, but the license statements are contradictory. Can you change them to allow posting remixes/derivatives with attribution?

The model description says:
Remixing encouraged! Just credit and link back to the original please

However the Printables license says:
✖ | No sharing or redistributing in any way of the 3D files or derivatives
✖ | No remixing

I've created parts for organizing the power cables and power supplies, as well as 1u modules for a switch and RPi and custom lid for my router (see pic) that I wanted to post. (edited)

Printables does not allow any derivatives/remixes to be created of your design because of how the license is configured.

Ever since I seen your original video on Mod10, I wanted to print it for myself but didn't have the need. Recently, I got a few HP mini PCs and thought this would be perfect for them, which it is. One runs my home assistant server (which was on a Pi 4 until recently) and the other is just a windows machine. I didn't have keystone jacks so I just passed the ethernet cables through. Printed all the parts on my SV08 in PETG.

Thanks for designing this and making it available for purchase. Really love your YouTube content too. Keep up the good work and thanks again 😁🤙

2U Rack for my Unify Cloud Gateway & Switch!

Fits perfectly under the TV, and "hides" some of the cable nest that used to be there.

@MandicReally , This is an amazing project, and your design is really excellent. I was wondering if it would be possible to get an official model where the depth is equal to that of the width? I want to house a NAS in mine, which sits just over 200mm deep. Instead of editing the CAD files, I was wondering if you would officially support a version that is square? Keep up the amazing work irregardless!

@Helium3764_285337 I second this idea. This would make cable management easier.

Great rack, I split the lid model into two parts and added a link insert to the middle for strength. It was my first big print (only had printer for 2 weeks) printed in asa. Strong and good looking rack, no issues aside from lid/base size (edited)

Lovely! Printed fully in PLA and I have not had any issues. I mounted my Ubiquiti AP wall mount to the grill on top and it works perfect. I also mounted the grills on the very bottom to make an area where I can shove all the cables. This kind of opened my eyes to mixing hardware with prints and I actually love it.

Amazing design and easy to assemble, currently at 6U will extend at some point.

Absolutely epic design. Thank you so much for it! I loved the modularity and the simplicity of the cage nut system. Simple, and effective, the cornerstone of brilliant design philosophy.
