I wanted a more complex-feeling pattern on the tops of the tiles. Since hexagons are the bestagons, that's what I chose. One is just the outline, which has a much more noticeable texture, and the other has the face of each hexagon raised which is much more subtle. The dimensions of the tiles are slightly different from the original, as I re-modeled this fidget toy from the ground up using the original as a reference. Still uses 8 6x3 magnets for each tile (16 magnets for a working pair)
I printed on a flat PEI sheet in PETG at 85% infill for more weight. If heft isn't a concern, PLA and around 20% infill should certainly be fine. Textured bed might affect how smoothly the tiles slide against each other.
Print one of each tile for variety, or two of the same to match your tactile preferences! Don't forget to flip the magnets for the second tile.
The author remixed this model.
A two hexagonal patterns to choose from. Slightly different dimensions than the original tiles.
