Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Tricorder

Here is my version of the SNW tricorder. It features a flip-down display and removable hand scanner. It's a lot of parts but easy to print and assemble.

Uses 5x5mm magnets to hold the hand scanner and the door closed. The 6x2 just didn't hold strong enough.  

The strap knobs on the sides are threaded to screw in for easy strap removal. 

Graphics for both science and medical variants are included.

April 12 2025 - Added a split version of the strap knobs for the two-toned gold and silver look. 

Tips

• To keep the ability to swap graphics, instead of super-gluing (Gorilla glue, etc) the display outer faceplate on, use a small gob of purple glue stick to hold it. Glue stick holds remarkably well on small light parts if you let it dry and usually doesn't damage the model when prying it off, so its easy to change the graphics later that way. 
• To get a nice finish on the the front panel's protrusion, use your slicer's variable layer height smoothing option. 
• Use Prusaslicer's ‘single perimeter on top surface’ option and set infill angle to run perpendicular on rectangular parts for a cleaner look.
