This is inspired by Kim_Chengdu’s “Pokemon Gastly - with water fog colored by light of LED” : https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5389305
The design is a little hasty because I had a 10-year old ‘patiently’ waiting for its completion.
Use “CombinedBase.stl” to print the base as one piece.
Use “BackBody.stl”, “MiddleBody.stl”, and “FrontBody.stl” if you prefer to print the sections separately in different colors. The front and back sections have 2.5mm pilot holds for your M3 tap (or just an M3 screw and a little elbow grease) and the middle section has 3.2mm holes for the screws to pass through. Assemble the 3 sections with M3 8mm screws protruding outward from the center section.
I used 3 of the way-too-many screw holes to connect each side. 1 in the top center and 2 in the top bottom-outside holes.
There are plenty of 12mm openings internally to route wiring for whatever you decide to do with switches or controllers, and 4 - 4x20mm posts in the front body you can use to mount a PCB board.
Use your slicer to add a negative-volume cylinder or box and place it through the surface where you want holes for switches and such.
The fitment for mounting the humidifier circuit board is specifically for the one I bought but it appears that most of the Amazon cheapies are the same. Sand the corners on the USB side until you can fit the circuit board without blocking the mount tube opening (see photo). I secured my board with short M2 screws
Align ‘MountTube.stl’ with the ‘board gap’ facing outward and push it through the base from the bottom. Secure with M3 - 8mm screws.
Partial modification/remix of Kim_Chengdu’s original Gastly:
I’ve combined the original Gastly “back_B” and “holder_A” files into “Remake_Back_B_Holder_A_Combined.stl” and added 2 channels for M3 screws to hold this to the rest of Gastly’s body. Print with supports. Orient the small end on the build plate.
If you haven’t printed Kim_Chengdu’s model yet I’ve also included “Remake_Back_A_Body.stl” and “Remake_Middle.stl” which have 2.5mm pilot holes that line up with the holes in this combined back.
The author marked this model as their own original creation.
