Hello everyone, I’m P1lotz, a professional 3D artist from Scandinavia, and I have been working in this field since 2019. This time I have decided to update my first articulated model, with new details, fixed mistakes, moving tail and arms, and a consistently shrinking in the tail.

Thank you Chitu System

This model's filament is sponsored by Chitu Systems. For this particular model, I used their Conjure Chameleon Purple and Blue PLA, which is a high-quality material with a unique colour. While they offer other colours, I particularly enjoy using the green one.

Thank you so much to Chitu System for sponsoring this project.

You are not allowed to reupload this model in any way!
This means you can’t sell the file or upload it to websites such as Printables, Thingiverse, Cults 3D, or Makerworld!
If people cannot start understanding this, I will have to remove the share-alike copyright, which would be unfortunate for all of you creative souls out there. Please report any illegal reuploads. Thank you!
If you use the model for YouTube, please credit me as well. Thank you.

Print settings

The dragon does not need much infill. I recommend between 10% and 20%, but 5% works as well.
The dragon does not need any support for printing.
The dragon can usually be printed directly on the printing bed. However, if any troubles occur, I recommend printing with rafts. The dragon can usually be printed directly on the printing bed. However, if any troubles occur, I recommend printing with rafts.
I advise avoiding using adhesion while printing the model and instead using rafts to avoid problems with articulation.

This is a print-in-place model, so it does not need any support.

Designing Process

The model was created using Blender 3D. I am currently working on a detailed tutorial that will explain the design process, so stay tuned if you want to learn how to create your own model. In the meantime, you can watch an older tutorial I made, although it is less detailed than the upcoming one. Click here to watch the older tutorial.

Common Questions

Q: Can you sell the model?
A: No, you cannot sell the model. However, you are able to if you get a commercial licence via my Printables memberships.

Q: Can you reupload the model, if you give me credit?
A: No, you cannot reupload my models, even if you credit me. The only thing allowed is legitimate remixes, with proper credits!

Q: Can I use the model in my YouTube video?
A: Yes, of course. However, you can't claim it as your own or sell it. You are allowed to share the print on social media.

Q: Does the model need support?
A: No, the model does not need any support.

Q: Should the model be printed with adhesion?
A: No!!! Do NOT use adhesion under any circumstances. It is a nightmare to remove.
A: However, if you have trouble printing it, I recommend you to use rafts.

Q: How to make a dragon? How to make stuff articulate?
A: It really depends on what you are making. My tip is to download and analyse some articulated models, by looking at their preview in the slicer. You can also watch my tutorial, to learn more about it. Click here to watch the tutorial.

Q: Does the model need any assembling?
A: No, it does not. The model is a print in place.

Q: Do you have to use flexible filament for this?
A: No. The model works like a chain. I recommend colourful PLA.

Q: Can the model be resized?
A: Yes and no. It really depends on how small. I don't recommend anything smaller than 75% scale. A good tip is to always check the outcome in the slicer before printing.
