Modular Carcassonne Storage / Insert / Organizer system (Star Wars, Winter, Hunters and Gatherers, Mists over Carcassonne, Amazonas)

Here is a relatively modular Carcassonne insert system that should work for most cases.  I can make main tile inserts for other versions of Carcassonne as well if there is any interest - DM me.  This one currently has main tile holders for Star Wars, Winter (2012), and Hunters & Gatherers, Mists over Carcassonne.  I made a separate one for Winter Carcassonne (2024) which is HERE.

I printed all of mine in PLA at .2mm layer height, with 2 wall loops and 15% gyroid infill, with supports for the nesting components.  I added a .5mm chamfer at the base to help avoid elephant's foot.

For each version of Carcassonne, you will need:

• 2 big Tile Holders for your version (Tiles 1 and Tiles 2); there might be variations so ensure to read the notes and print the one you need
• Either the two nesting base parts, OR the two  bag holder parts
  • Bag holder goes on top, allows you to fold your tile bag neatly and fit in here so the box will close
  • Nesting base goes on bottom, nicely holds the two tile parts.  Compatible with all versions here
• Some number of Meeple boxes, depending on your desired use case
  • There is a 2stack version; it is square, and 4 will fit in a row.  If you are just using this, you'll need 8.
  • There is a 3stack version; it is also square, and 4 will fit in a row.  If you are just using this, you'll need 12.  This one is not my favorite because it requires you to ensure the meeple are laying down before storage, but including it here because I made it and someone might like it.
  • There is a 2stack-2wide version, it is rectangular, and 2 will fit in a row.  If you are just using this, you'll need 4.  
  • You can also do some combination of these, knowing that the 3stack one is NOT compatible vertically with the 2stack one, but horizontally you can make one or more stack be a 3-stack and other stacks be 2 stacks.
• To do Amazonas, you'll need:
  • Star Wars Tiles 1
  • Amazonas Wide Tiles
  • Recommend the two bag holder parts, so the river starting tile has a place to go
  • Whichever of the meeple boxes you like, sufficient to hold 5 colors worth of meeple.

All configurations allow you to stack your rules manual and scoreboard on top, and depending on your bag thickness, there should be no lid lift.

I designed all these parts to be able to fit on my Bambu X1 bed.  The Tile holders will fit easily if you rotate them at a 45 degree angle to the bed, and will print 1 at a time.  You can probably print a bunch of the Meeple boxes at the same time as they are relatively small.  I have successfully print 8 simultaneously on the Bambu X1 bed with no issues.

Enjoy and let me know if there are any versions or variations that you think would be helpful.  These should fit in most of the standard sized Carcassonne boxes.

Update 3/29/2025: Added components for Mists over Carcassonne, which includes a spot for the Spell Circles expansion.  There is no “Tiles 2”, instead print the bag holder/spacer, which will hold a bag for your tiles.  Also print the nesting bottom.  You can do 6 of the 2-stack boxes for the meeple, and then 3 of the 3-stack boxes for the little accessories.
