I had a large platter printed out of marble PLA for taking clean images on, but realized I wanted it motorized. Elkromo had a concept I liked so I modified it to suit my needs. Added some cable mgmt. Made it so you can power it via micro usb.
Printing: Should only need tree supports underneath the bearing pegs. I split those off such that you can print them in different orientations, but I believe the strongest is all as one piece.
Materials used:
3 x 609RS bearings - This link is 10 per package https://a.co/d/3b4UfFv
1 x Micro USB to DIP adapter - This link is 10 per https://a.co/d/bg9761w
1 x High Torque gearbox - https://a.co/d/czx4Tct
1 x Low voltage DC speed controller - This link has 6 https://a.co/d/69pDUQj
Mounting - Bearings and motor are mostly press-fit. The boards screw in with screws, the ones I used are bad so I'll leave that up to you, but the holes are 2.5mm and the openings on the boards are 3mm, so need to be under 3mm.
The author remixed this model.
Modified for micro usb power from a battery pack, different bearings, height-adjusted and size-adjusted for a better fit/finish.
