A Compact, Cheap, and Simple H Shifter for Sim Racing Using Endstops and a Few Bolts and Nuts

What You Need:

  • 8 pcs 10mm neodymium magnets
  • 7 pcs endstops
  • 2 pcs M6x25 bolts
  • 1 pc M3x30 bolt
  • 4 pcs M3x10 bolts
  • 6 pcs M6 nuts
  • 2 pcs M3 nuts (6 pcs if you need to fix the top cover)
  • 1 threaded rod M5x200+
  • 2 rubber bands or springs
  • Plastic glue

Some Notes:

  1. To fix the gear lever in the center position (y-axis), I used rubber bands and nuts to secure it. This is why the cutouts in Base.stl are made for this purpose.
  2. Endstops should be attached with hot-melt adhesive. To do this, assemble everything and place the threaded rod in position. Move the gear lever to the extreme position until it is picked up by the magnet. Fix the endstop so that it is pressed by the threaded rod, then check if it will be pressed (endstop lever up).
  3. A center magnet has been added to ensure a firm hold in the neutral position (x-axis).

While this is not a full-fledged gear shifter, the low number of parts, their affordability, and the ease of assembly make it a worthwhile project for sim racing enthusiasts.
