This is a measuring tool that will help you identify if any poles on the reef are not correctly aligned according to the field spec. The gauge has 3 settings 0.25", 1" and 2". In hindsight it only needed the 2" option.
To use, place the gauge on the pole and point the fin of the tool perpendicular to the reef face. Place the string over the end of the gauge top, and allow the weighted end (plumb bob or heavy washer) to hang without swinging. Measure to ensure the string is 2" from the face of the reef.
Use the gauge to identify which poles may have the top in a forward or back location and adjust the angle/height of you scoring mechanism on the robot. Alternatively, know which poles to avoid during match play, if your robot cannot handle the tolerance discrepancy.
Use this gauge to setup your practice elements when at home.
