I am giving back to the reefing hobby with a project I’ve been working on for the past couple of years—a fully 3D-printed modular frag scape system.
My company, 3DReefing, is dedicated to innovative reef-safe designs. If you appreciate my work, please support me by following @3dreefing on Instagram and sharing it with others who might be interested. Your support helps me continue developing new designs!
For simplicity, I’ll refer to the dodecahedron pieces as “cubes.” Each cube connects to another using a slide-lock mechanism, allowing you to build a strong and rigid structure. I’ve tested this design extensively for over a year, including tank MS ICP tests, and it has proven to be completely reef-safe with no abnormal leaching of contaminants.
🚨 Important: These must be printed in PETG. Using any other material could put your reef tank at risk!
While the cubes may look simple, their geometry can be tricky to work with at first. Assembly isn’t difficult but does take practice. The most important rule to follow is that each cube must be parallel to the one it’s attaching to for a secure connection.

If you need help with your frag scape or just want to show off your latest creations, join us on Facebook! I’ll be in and out to help where I can, but please keep in mind that I’m currently a one-man operation running a busy company, so your patience is appreciated.
This is just the beginning! Soon, I’ll be uploading the STEP file for a base attachment part, allowing anyone to create custom add-ons. I’ll update this section with a link once it’s available. UPDATE! Here it is - https://www.printables.com/model/1206351-frag-scape-system-base-feature
I hate that I have to say this, but here we are. I’ve invested countless hours designing and testing this concept. You’re welcome to print these for personal use or to share with friends, but under Creative Commons, selling them as your own is strictly prohibited.
I want to keep innovating without people stealing my intellectual property, so please respect that. Let’s build a community that supports creativity, not exploits it.
