This is a wider version of my simple clip that utilises a printable spring to hold both parts closed - In this variant, it's probably best suitable for use as a bulldog clip, but it has considerable grip and could be used to close large bags in the kitchen as-well.
Printing Notes
- This is best printed in PETG as the spring needs to be deformed and held under tension, I think PLA would break.
- The Clip - print at 100% in-fill, side-on - this way the layer lines provide strength.
- The Sides - print flat-side down, they're universal, print 2 of them - I printed in Prusaslicer with adaptive layers on, Quality/Speed 0.62, with smooth radius set to 5 and they came out well.
Assembly
- Line the 2 sides up together, using the locating pins on the pivot.
- Grab the clip and slide down from the rear over the middle section until the clip snaps into it's locating slot - this WILL take some considerable force - but it's necessary to ensure there's some decent grip from the clip.
