Finger Traps are a fun novelty item, but most are made from wood or paper, and usually fall apart before too long. Flexible filaments like TPU on the other hand, are pretty tough.
This design prints off a large flat strip of TPU, 2 layers thick, in an L shape.
You'll need to print 2 of them to make 1 Finger Trap. They look even better with different colors!
Make sure your print bed is well leveled.
Using tape or a rubber band, attach the corners of the strips to the top of a thick pen or other finger-sized object, on opposite sides. Ensure the tops of the prints point outward, and that the hole and button ends alternate. Then weave the strips together, careful to ensure the strips alternate over & under. As you near the ends, the holes and tabs should line up.
Once assembled, you'll need to glue a little around the tab to secure it in place.
CAUTION: These can be rather difficult to take off by yourself, so be careful. I take no responsibility for how you use these!
Are there simpler materials to make them from? Sure maybe, but if you have some spare TPU laying around, this might be a fun use for it. 😉
