Avatar Reef Tank LED Controller Enclosure
Description
PDFThe one that Kessil sells did not have all the functionality I wanted. Purchased a HurricaneX controller from Steves LEDs (https://www.stevesleds.com/) and 10V PWM Converter as the Kessil light needs a 10V PWM signal for the two channels in the light.
The HurricaneX enclosure is not waterproof and the 10V PWM Converter is simply an open circuit board. Thus I needed a waterproof enclosure to house them both plus all the connected wiring. Customizable everything box (waterproof) was a great starting point especially because the OpenSCAD file was given. Modified the file for may needs.
Designed waterproof box with standoffs so that 10V PWM Converter board could be mounted underneath HurricaneX controller. Designed and printed holder for 10V PWM Converter board to hold it in place under controller.
Used 6-32 threaded inserts on all screw locations to secure controller to bottom of box and cover to bottom of box.
Added acrylic window to from cover sealed with black silicone caulk so controller display could be viewed. Screws need to be removed to adjust programming of controller if needed.
Had to added additional standoffs in middle of box so that long dimension would seal.
Sprayed Flex-Seal over outside of box for additional waterproofing. Also sprayed Flex-Seal on part of inside of front cover to act as a gasket seal.
