I ordered an IR3 V2 on Kickstarter. Got the machine in and the extruder gears stripped in less than two weeks. So I saw this as a sign I needed to make some major changes…. GO BIG OR GO HOME!
On the IR3V2 the extruder is an integrated part of the probe system. So, I designed a hotend mount to use the CHC XL and the stock probe. The CHC XL has incredible flow. I am running a max flow rate of 80 - 100mm³/s with the CHC XL with a CHT Nozzle and HGX extruder on a TronXY.
On my IR3V2, I am running 35mm³/s @ 300mm/s with a 1.0mm CHT nozzle and 0.8mm layer. The nozzle is a CHC Creality-style short nozzle, you CANNOT use the nozzle that comes with the CHC XL.
Your mount will need to be made from high-temp materials. I suggest a tough resin or MJF nylon for the body! This may be a hard print for FDM.

I designed it to use a standard V6 extruder mount. I was going to use a compact HGX type extruder from https://www.printables.com/@AlexShutov_1458779. But I ended up using a Bondtech LGX Lite. This way the tension screw has no issue clearing the coreXY motor. If you use the LGX Lite, you will need the V6 mount I designed: https://www.printables.com/model/1217838-bondtech-lgx-lite-v6-mount-adapter
How it works:
On the back of the V2 the fan mount bracket has the belt probe sensor. My mount connects to the V2 fan bracket and the stock extruder U-shaped upper mount. As the nozzle is probed on the belt, it flexes the fan bracket, triggering the sensor. On the back of the head PCB, there is an LED for probing indication.
You may not need the fan if you are using the water-cooled version of the hotend. But the fan mount is necessary for probing, so you cannot omit it.
This makes no permanent modifications to the printer!
NOTE: The two M3 screws on the top U bracket cannot be too tight. There needs to be a minimal amount of movement for the probe sensor. I used two small O rings as a washer between the screw head the and the U bracket.
Parts Needed:
1X Triangle-Lab CHC XL Hotend OR Goliath VZBOT
1x IR3V2_mount (printed)
1x IR3V2_Duct (printed)
1x V6 Mounted Extruder
2x M3x10mm Screws
4x M3x35mm Screws
6x M3 Nuts
3X M2.5x8mm Flat Head Screw
1x M2.5x8mm Cap Head Screw
1X PEFT Tube 4mmOD
1X 4 Pin 2.0mm JST Connector for motor
1x 2 Pin 2.0mm JST Connector for thermistor
1x 2 Pin 2.5mm JST Connector for Hotend Heater
You will need the modified Fan Duct. Everything else you need will be reused from the printer. If you reuse the extruder stepper, you will need to make the wire a little bit longer.
Your warranty is now void.
Klipper printer.cfg:
[extruder]
sensor_type: PT1000 ;CHC XL Thermistor
pullup_resistor: 2200 ;CHC XL Thermistor Pullup
rotation_distance: 2.8 ;Bondtech LGX Lite. You may need to adjust this!
