Ever since I saw ThePhonePillow by HpInvent, I wanted to remix it into a wireless charging pillow.
Alas, HpInvent's is using a very restrictive closed license, so I would not have been able to share it with the world.
Thankfully KingTut created a CC-BYNCSA model from scratch, which allowed me to re-do my work based on his much better model and share it with everybody. :-)
I ordered an wireless charger that can charge a phone to a distance of 20mm and got to work. Using that it's possible to charge a phone wirelessly all the way through the pillow, a case and a PopSocket.
The charger I got, is sold as a 30mm distance charger by “KPON” and called „Invisible Wireless Charger C30”, but the 30mm actually only work with power-sticker on the other side. Thankfully it works to 20mm without the sticker.
The whole process included modelling the charger as well as my phone's case in FreeCAD. Then creating a mechanism to slot-in, click and hold the charger in place. Then, using these models, modifying the original pillow in Blender until everything fit.
from PETG to PLA, PLA-Silk, etc, every material should work fine. I tested with PETG from eSUN and BioFusion Silk PLA from Extrudr so far, all with good results.
I had good results printing with a 0.6mm nozzle at 0.20mm layer height.
At least 15% of Lightning-Infill will work fine and save filament. I used 18% for good measure. The stand will come out above 100g and be quite stable.
If you prefer to have a heavier model, I added 3mf
s for PrusaSlicer and BambuStudio where I cut the model and added more infill at the bottom.
CC-BY-NC-SA. Same as the original.
