Well, I was printing a lot of random stuff when I first got into 3d Printing.  My wife finally said, “Why don't you make something useful?” I asked what and she said, “make me a jewelry box.”

I had recently done some kumiko woodworking so I set about overcomplicating the simple box idea she had in mind and spent quite some time on the design, trying to make it as practical as I could.

I tried designing it as big as I thought I could fit on my plate but had no room for supports.  It really was too big, anyway.  I ended up printing each part right-side-up at 80% size, WITH tree supports in Cura.  I'm also glad I asked about what color she wanted, because she went rogue with the teal blue.  This was my first time printing with a ‘silk’ PLA and I thought it came out pretty well.

All of the support material came off easily and looked pretty good, though I did have to clean up some of the rough edges here and there.  Oh, also the Lid is a pretty tight fit.  Might be worth printing that at 79% size, just to make it easier.  You can also hit it with a bit of heat and soften it up for a snug fit that will last.
